چکیده
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is rapidly becoming the most common chronic liver disease worldwide, afflicting 20-30% of the general population of western countries [1]. It is also currently the most common liver disease in children [2]. NAFLD refers to a wide spectrum of liver damage, which begins with simple steatosis (accumulation of triglyceride filled vesicles in liver cells), and can progress to non-alcoholic steaohepatitis (NASH), which is characterized by fibrosis and cirrhosis in addition to steatosis and can ultimately lead to liver failure [3, 4]. NAFLD is now classified as part of the metabolic syndrome and is associated with other conditions such as central obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus and hyperglycemia [3, 5].

Transmit B1+ field inhomogeneity and T1 estimation errors in breast DCE-MRI at 3 tesla.
PURPOSE To quantify B1+ variation across the breasts and to evaluate the accuracy of precontrast T1 estimation with and without B1+ variation in breast MRI patients at 3 Tesla (T). MATERIALS AND METHODS B1+ and variable flip angle (VFA) T1 mapping were included in our dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) breast imaging protocol to study a total of 25 patients on a 3.0T GE MR 750 system. We compute...
متن کاملCorrection of Rf Inhomogeneities in Flash-based T1 Mapping Using Unified Segmentation
Introduction: Quantitative T1 mapping based on 3D FLASH acquisitions with variable excitation flip angles (VFA) is fast and robust (1, 2). However, high accuracy can only be achieved when the local flip angle is known precisely (1). At higher static magnetic fields local flip angles may deviate considerably from the nominal flip angle due to inhomogeneities of the RF transmit/B1 field (3, 4). T...
متن کاملWide-Range T1 Mapping Using Two Variable Flip Angle Acquisitions
Introduction: Volumetric T1 mapping using two variable flip angle (VFA) acquisitions has become a popular clinical tool for T1 estimation due to short scan times and ease of implementation. The conventional approach to flip angle selection has been based on maximization of the signaldynamic range (S-DR) product for a single T1 value of interest (typically ≤ 1000 ms), with estimation accuracy an...
متن کاملT₁ mapping using variable flip angle SPGR data with flip angle correction.
PURPOSE To improve the calculation of T1 relaxation time from a set of variable flip-angle (FA) spoiled gradient recalled echo images. MATERIALS AND METHODS The proposed method: (a) uses a uniform weighting of all FAs, (b) takes into account global inaccuracies in the generation of the prescribed FAs by estimating the actual FAs, and (c) incorporates data-driven local B1 inhomogeneity correct...
متن کاملT1 corrected multipeak T2*-IDEAL gradient-echo imaging for the quantification of intermuscular adipose tissue
Introduction: Intermuscular adipose tissue (IMAT) has been recently associated with different metabolic abnormalities including obesity and insulin resistance [1]. The distribution and the total amount of IMAT have been traditionally assessed using T1-weighted imaging [1]. However, quantification of IMAT based on T1-weighted imaging is limited by partial volume effects and requires effective se...
